You are spot on with you assessment. Since I live in an urban setting my kids really don't have the opportunity to learn gardening. However, I grew up in the countryside of a third world country. As a kid I was quite intrigued with growing things, I remember as young as 7 years old planting corn, and tubers. It gave me great pleasure and satisfaction to see them grow. I'm sure I learned many important lessons, especially about nurturing that has served me well throughout my adult life.

My kids love the garden for snacking and out door munching. I found a few years ago that I ended up without much harvest. I decided to work with them and plant a pizza garden (a garden shaped as a circle with the wedges of pizzas marked out with rock or string and plants that you may later put on your pizza planted in the wedges. Well, that was great but this year they have a snack garden. It is their garden to snack in and my garden is the harvest garden. Both years were fun for all.
