Discussing Adoption with Your Family and Friends

Find out how to deal with unexpected comments about adoption.
Re: Discussing Adoption with Your Family and Friends
There is nothing wrong with wanting to adopt a child. You are blessing a child's life with something or someone they don't have and they do the same for you. I was adopted and although my journey was extremely rough, I can now say I'd do it all over again to have the parents I have today. I will be having my biological baby after years of trying in a few months but 2years earlier, with the help of myadoptionforms.com, I adopted my cousins newborn baby boy. It was seamless. My family is very open about adoption. I believe almost all of us have or will adopt a child as its very common for us. Don't be afraid to talk about adopting. If no one wants to listen, you do whats best for you and that child. Love Life. Jill

Re: Discussing Adoption with Your Family and Friends
I've been talking about adopting for several years. No one ever wanted to believe I am serious when it comes to adopting kids. I have decided to do things on my own without the help or without the blessings of my family. Thank you for the myadoptionform info. I look forward to contacting them. Lesley

Re: Discussing Adoption with Your Family and Friends
Adoption is very common in my family. However, my other kids didn't think I would want to adopt because I was able to have them. My mom and dad were able to have kids, they had my brother and I before they decided to adopt my little sister. So I've always known that I didn't have to not be able to have kids to adopt. I could anyway. There are so many kids that need a loving home. If I could help them all I would. My sister and I are very close. Almost twin like, lol. You would never guess we aren't blood related. Thanks for the link, I'm seriously thinking about it. Maddy

They didn't believe me
When my 13 year old niece came to me and told me she was pregnant, I was dumbfounded. I know it can happen but 13? My niece? So close to home. She then proceeded to telling me she talked to her mom and dad which is my sister, and she told them she wants to ask me to adopt her newborn. I was very honored they thought of me to play such a huge role in this little girls life. My family and friends grasped the idea with both hands. However, they didn't believe I was going to obtain this adoption without a lawyer. I had them all go to the site and read the free e-booklet http://www.myadoptionforms.com/booklet.html. It opened some eyes to say the least. Don't be afraid to talk about your adoption process or thoughts of adopting. This is an amazing time!! Andrea
