The Highly Sensitive Child: Parenting Strategies

Find out which parenting techniques work best with sensitive children.

I think this article was very helpful. I have noticed many traits in this to reflect my son who is eight years old. He is definitely a good child but very highly sensative. I noticed that he tears up on just the slightest thing if I start to get on him for things like forgetting his homework and how it's unacceptable. He is so so sensative to the point I feel bad about it.He has an excellent vocabulary and pays attention to more detail. If you want to learn a little more about your child,I found this link; It's hsperson.com which talks about highly sensative child. The name of the book on this link is titled "The Highly Sensative Child" by Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. There is also a little test on this site to help determine if your child IS highly sensative.Just thought I would share that little bit of info with other parents. I hope it works for you and your family.I'd like to know what you thought about it if you get the book. Happy parenting!

this article is good but way too long. Is there a condensed version?

When rasing a sensitive child, consider raising the the most sensitive plant called the TickleMe Plant with your child. TickleMe Plants are the only plant that will close their leaves and lower their brnaches when tickled. As a teacher, I would let kids know that it is ok to be sensitive and then show them how the TickleMe Plant was sensitive to tickling, darkness cold and wind. The sensitive TickleMe Plant always made them smile and they realized that even plants could be sensitive. To read more about the TickleMe Plant and to see a video of the live plant in action, search TickleMe Plant.
