Son Spends Too Much Time on Computer
It's not a healthy practice for a child to spend three to five hours per day on the computer.

I'm not certain that I agree with the last post. I fought long and hard to limit set times on the computer and the use of computer games. Although we do not allow any graphic games or those with blood, foul language or indecency. Now,that my boys are 14 and 17 I just let them discern themselves. One son takes martial arts and bikes the other is not sports minded at all and spends a lot of time on the computer. He does interact online with Christian gamers and at one time Christian paintballers. This has been his social network. I believe folks, that were looking at a different time and we must relax in our thinking. It is important to stay physically fit and to communicate with those around us. However, there was a day when young men would plow the fields and tend to the chores. It's not like that anymore. We need not be so anxious concerning the use of computers. They are going to be with us for a long time.

HI, the computer is a great tool, and we can make it even a greater tool, and also help with the learning process, either subjects we're already learning in class or subjects that are of researcheable interest, can be more deeply studied. There are many educational software series, that can be purchased, ( not too much $$) and also be taken out from the library, town to town libraries have different choices to pick from. It is a great way to practice English Grammar for example, logic, mentalrobics, or a new language!! Yahoo has Braingle.com which is full of info and free games (safe and eductional for the family, some are very difficult, like chess can take months to complete one game!) NASA is fantastic! USGS is great. My Wonderful World, ChristianAnswers.net has games/ KIDEXPLORERS.COM on it, National Geographic is so cool,The Federal Reserve, Education.us.gov, and a bunch of educational websites just open up the think box to greater ways to spend time, , even if it is the computer that is our means to our way. There are games that are educational, get more fun and learn more too! Challenge yourself and family and friends. Good Keyboarding to You. Smile

I agree its all that bad and alot of the time the reason kids go on computers is to escape reality or do something in their spare time. Its understandable that someone wouldnt be enthused to do physical activity all the time and so when they are bored. So before you think your son/daughter is unhealthy and they need to get out more, think why this might be and if they are willing to tell you maybe its not their fault. this is being said not to attack anyone but to help people be awared.

As a 17 yr. old, i came on here to tell everyone posting here how stupid all of you are, and I just can't grasp the concept how you can think the way you all do.
You're acting like the computer is a bad thing and giving these limits is the [filtered word]ing dumbest thing i have ever heard, especially the 1 hour and a half limits and the blood on graphics games when your kids are 14 and [filtered word]ING 17? At least give them some time to watch porn and jack off when you aren't around so they don't go [filtered word]ing every [filtered word] they see.
Back to the blood and video games thing, why the hell do you act like your kids are [filtered word]ing 8 years old? 14 and 17 are almost adults and when i hear this all i think is conservative rednecks who worship god or something every minute of the day while yelling "TECHNOLOGY IS THE DEVIL" your kids are going to be [filtered word]ing water boy when they... o wait they are already almost grown up. "mm-m-m-m-myy momma always say the internet is THE DEVIL"
