Diversity is part of my family. I am part Mexican, American Indian and Swiss, and my fiance is half black and half american indian, so our daughter is all of these ethnicities. when i first got with my fiance, my grandpa had a huge problem with the fact the he was part black. my grandpa, who is half american indian, did not talk to me for months. I couldn't understand how a man of his ethnic back ground could be so narrow minded as to be prejudice against another minority. I actually thought I could raise my daughter in a biased-free country!

November 7, 2008 4:28 PM Diversity is key and here is how I started with my daughter, 6.
I bought on the internet a game I needed to help my 6 year old daughter learn to respect others in our neighborhood. It's called Diversity! ($21 on http://www.4bambini.com) and basically, it is a series of cards with pictures and questions my daughter needs to link with the right answers. It is all done with very pretty with illustrations and deals with what our children see around them at school or at the mall (obesity, left-handed, vegetarians, muslims,...). It explains things tactfully with nice illustrations and simple words.
