Starting the Divorce Action

Once you and your spouse agree to divorce, one of you will need to file, depending on a number of factors.
Re: Starting the Divorce Action
Yep, I did it this way. I'm in the process of my divorce from my husband of 14 years. We have 3 kids together and it was something I didn't see coming at all. I thought we were all good, but you cannot tell someone to love you when they don't. Makes no sense to stay where you're not needed or wanted. I went through http://www.divorce4her.com/testimonies.html. My sister referred me to this company. I started with this company about 2 months ago, I will soon be all set to file. I can't wait!! Thanks for the info.

Wow!
This is great info. I'm new here and sure didn't expect to see such "real" advice. I don't know, I didn't know what I would find to be honest. Thanks for all the eye opening info. Shawn

I Second that...
I agree with Lesley's post. There are several legal sites out there that will assist you in obtaining your divorce, without a lawyer. I am a newly divorced mom of two and in the process of adopting one. I did my divorce without a lawyer and just got info from this board about doing an adoption without a lawyer. I'm all for it! It has saved me so much time, money, headache not having to talk to a lawyer and pay his retainer and pay for him to have the same paralegals prepare my paperwork when I can just pay this do it yourself service company and have it done in a flash. I'm beginning to see many people go this route and I think it is wonderful! Especially in this economic crisis. Every little dime counts! Drea

We thought it would be so difficult.
We started the action for divorce about a year ago. We didn't know how to begin, who to talk to, what to do, etc...It was hard enough knowing we were going to finalize this union as we had been married for 5 years and together almost all our lives (literally grade school). It was like separating from your best friend. We were lucky that it was an uncontested divorce so we didn't have anything to argue about or to delay our process. My sister went through her divorce a few months before we started looking and referred me to a company that does the paperwork for you and you just take them to file. It would be an understatement to say we weren't skeptical but, because it is my sister, I decided to take a closer look. The rest is basically history. Believe me, it was definitely a lot cheaper than using a lawyer and a lot faster than doing it completely on your own. Make sure you do great research because there are a lot of scams out there, however there ARE several legal sites as well. Lesley
