I don't wear dresses or skirts. So it's either wear pants or not attend the wedding. There are plenty of dressy pants. How are crepe, velvet or silk pants any less dressy than a skirt?

Why would pants be inappropriate for women?
There are many nice pant suits available for women; many are much dressier than some of the awful trampy dresses that I've seen some females wear during 'church' weddings!
When was this article printed? The 1950's?

I totally disagree with the statement that it is acceptable to wear white to a wedding as a guest. ABSOLUTELY NOT! The bride should be the ONLY person dressed in white! With so many color choices out there, what kind of guest would wear white, anyway? How insensitive to try to upstage the bride by wearing white - the bride should shine on her special day - NOT THE RUDE GUEST dressed in WHITE!
This is an example of how we, as a nation, are losing ourselves and our self-worth by bending ALL the rules to suit our desires at the moment. We should have some respect for tradition.
