As someone who has published about 30 articles in top medical journals explaining exactly why autism is linked to ear infections, I find it quite demoralising to read that there is no literature on this. Actually I find it unethical that a simple theory, that autism is a variant of peripheral deafness, can simply be ignored by all and sundry. To save people the bother of reading my papers, I can actually be proved wrong very simply. All that is needed is to find a cause of autism that is not also a cause of otitis media and/or deafness.
