Xylitol - danger to dogs
You failed to mention in the article that xylitol can be fatal to dogs. Xylitol disrupts insulin levels in dogs if they ingest a very small amount. A single mint can be fatal to a small dog, even if treated by a vet immediately. While this website is geared toward people - how safe is Xylitol if it is that dangerous to our pets. How traumatic would it be to the family if their dog died from ingesting something that contained xylitol??

Another list of natural sugars
Great information! I found a list of more natural sugars at www.bettersugar.com They describe brown rice syrup, agave nectar, erythritol, and trubinado. All are supposedly natural and healthier than refined sugar.
