That is a fabulous perspective on sex education. Their are many reasons to have sex and many reasons to not have it and it seems you have figured out whats right for you. People often think that talking about sex with young kids means that we say it's OK but really we just want them to be safe and people need to realize just that. Their are so many stds out their that like you said some kids wouldn't even know about and different contraceptives as well to keep the teen pregnancy down as low as we can. I'm surprised that even in your country you have these conversations because all to often we don't have them enough here.
