My son does yard work and makes more than minimum wage. Also, he has gotten further education and training to be a lifeguard. Babysitting has been very lucrative as well for him. My husband works in the restaurant biz and says good servers make ALOT of cash in tips.

Working at a scoop shop is all around the way to go if you're in high school! I made so much money in tips (sometimes 60-80/night) on top of the minimum wage that I was already getting paid. Plus, many ice cream shops don't require you to report any tips (unlike restaurants) and you get paid a lot more than waiters and waitresses do!
I also worked for a catering company and made 15/hour. It eats up your Friday and Saturday nights and the shifts are long, but what's better than this: Appetizers, gourmet dinner, and dessrt... All the while you're working in a fast-paced environment with loud music with your friends... plus you get tipped out at the end of the night... As a caterer, you'll make more in one night than your friends make all week!
