Primal Teen
I can use some advice. Our 16 year old daughter went to the mall this weekend w/a friend and got her upper lip pierced ("Medusa")w/o permission. As a side note, I will be contacting that business about parental consent. First, does anyone know if this hole will become permanent like a pierced ear, if I allow her to wear this? I told her that I wasn't happy that she did this. She is adament about keeping it. I don't know if I should let her "express herself" in this way. Her hair is a normal color and she dresses nicely. Aside from having her navel pierced, this is the only out of the ordinary thing you would notice in regular clothing. I think the nothing permanent rule is a good one, but I'm not sure where this falls. Then, there is the issue that she did this w/o our consent. Should there be punishment for this? I'm learning that you have to be more creative with discipline as they near adulthood. Any ideas?

Teens who do body piercing and tatoos
Do you ever stop talking with your teenagers or any age about the health risk associated with body piercing and tatoos. NO!!!!
What are they trying to express? With belly button piercing it is right above a girl's personal area. It tells a guy hey look I'm sexy and it is an open invitation for sex.
Unless someone else can tell me otherwise! True you can't stop them from doing this to their bodies but maybe if they read medical reports of it causing hepatitus and problems with their female organs would they want to risk the possibility of not having children.
YOUR KIDS ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING SO TALK TO THEM!
