Toddler Takes Sips of Wine and Beer

Is it ever acceptable to let a two-year-old sip wine and beer?
Children Drinking
I think you are mistaken about Cultures who let their youth drink with the family and given "appropriate levels of wine have lower incidence of binge drinking, alcoholism and lower death rates from drunk driving" is quite a false statement. What are appropriate levels of consuming alcohol for children? Australian Guidelines to reduce health risks from drinking alcohol. Do not agree with you. http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/publications/synopses/ds10syn.htmAge of first drinking
Several studies indicate that initiating alcohol use at an early age increases the likelihood of later adverse physical and mental health conditions (Hemmingsson & Lundberg 2001; Hingson et al 2003; Guilamo-Ramoset al 2004; Toumbourou et al 2004; Wells et al 2004; Jefferis et al 2005).

So... don't completely agree
I do agree that a toddler should not drink wine, I don't think that should really be up for debate. However, as far as older children having a sip of wine, I couldn't disagree more. Cultures where children are given appropriate levels of wine have lower incidence of binge drinking, alcoholism and lower death rates from drunk driving. So, while I can appreciate and respect the concern for keeping children safe from both the effects of alcohol consumption and certainly accidental overdose of said substance, proper control and introduction seems to be of long term benefit, not determent.
