Weaning Off Pacifier

Learn the best method for weaning a child from the pacifier.
Off the Pacifier!!
Thank you SO much for this article! My 2 year old was having a very difficult time letting go of the pacifier at night. I tried a couple of times to stop 'cold turkey' but was not successful. After reading your article, I had a discussion with my 2 year old about visiting her new baby cousin (3 weeks old) and that we should give him a present. I 'suggested' she give him her pacifier...and she agreed. At first, I thought to myself "it can't be THAT easy" hee hee. But after we visited the baby and left the bag of pacifiers, she was fine. That night, she asked for it once before going to bed. I reminded her that she gave her pacifier to Baby Joshuha and she was really okay with it...I was amazed on how easy it was. It's been a week now and no issues other than a simple reminder of where the pacifier is...THANK YOU!!

Weaning completed
That night she cried maybe 5min then went to sleep. she woke up twice and ask for pacifier (compare to 4 times with the pacifier). I explained that it was with a baby that did not have a mommy or daddy or blankies or teddys and she went to bed. she woke up the second time i put her back in her bed she cried maybe 2min then fell asleep. she has been sleeping right through the night since then..she is still a early riser though.lol

Weaning off pacifier
I am going through this right now with my 20month old baby. It is hard and I know I have to stick with my gut. Thanks for that really good advice. The First Nap went by and she did everything to get our attention she stayed in her room for more than one hour and still did not fall asleep. Second Nap came around and she cried for maybe 10min then slept for 35min so we`ll see how it goes tonight. I`m crossing my fingers.
