I've done both - went back to work and stayed home.
Honestly with the way things are in schools etc, I would recommend being your children's champion and stay home.
You'll have kids that are less likely to have problems, be protected and share your ideals and values.
Don't ever underestimate what those extra touches, hugs and smiles mean in a life of a child - let alone the reading etc skills.
Around Grade 4 they are more ready to launch - but need you constantly as a teen - even just as a chauffeur - and they will be sure of themselves and their character (or defects).
You can't really have it all unless you have great family/friend support - doing the rat race takes it all from the kids and you.
How well you managed with sick kids is a true indicator of how well it is working.

I don't have any kids as yet but definitely interested in working from home. I have dibbled and dabbled in a few work at home jobs but nothing ever panned out. I think I'll apply to that link Sandy.
