There has been this blog post that has been circling around about how math should be taught as art. I think that kids could easily learn that math is a form of creative problem solving and that there are many ways to solve a problem. It helps them hone in their critical thinking skills and independent thinking, which is why I gave my kids word problems over the summer.

It was very helpful and insightful. I think it is critical at such an early age to get them started. It definitely develops their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Very interesting article. My child is 8 years old and I came across a website which has amazing fun and learning games in math and english for kids. My child loves playing these games. Her grades have also gone up. The website is www.skidos.com

My daughter is 3, not studying yet but with the help of educational games like Math cool games she can now read and count numbers. I think playing educational games can make teaching kids easier plus they develop the love for learning.

I like to do ordinary but fun things that require math skills like cooking and baking. Grocery shopping - especially picking fruit and vegetables - is great for math skills. Math is everywhere!
