Comments on:Help for a CrybabyIt is okay for a boy to cry. Twelve-year-olds are still very much children and because they are entering puberty, they will often cry easily.

I have a ten year old son who gets very upset very easily. He manages to keep a lid on it at school but with me and his father (we are separated) he crys when he can't do his maths homework. He is very clever and is used to getting everything right. He starts his homework but if something comes up he doesn't know he freaks out. I have talked to him calmly and rationally trying to sort out his feelings but he just says he can't stop the crying (he says this whilst crying!). He says he doesn't know whats wrong he just can't stop. He also gets teary eyed at other times for very minor things, like when asked what he wants to eat, if he doesn't know he just keeps saying he doesn't know and starts to get upset. Its very strange and I don't know how to deal with it other than hoping he grows out of it. He has always been very sensitive and likes to have friends who are a bit quieter than the average ten year old boy however he loves sport and in lots of ways is "normal"! Any advice would be good. Thanks.
