Kindergarten Expectations

Consider all of the expectations on a kindergartner before you decide she has a problem.
sloppy seatwork
While it is important that a directive come from the teacher, I think it is really important that the parent and the teacher present a united front to help the child. Even if she is a high achiever in the areas fo math and reading, the sloppy work might escalate as she gets older. BUT she is in kindergarten and it sounds like she is behaving normally for an active kid. Does the teacher have enough help in the classroom to keep kids on track who may be losing interest and hurrying to get things done. You could try some Focus Correction Areas. For example, your daughter would absolutely have to have 2 things completed on the paper. ie name written neatly, first name written neatly, capital letters where appropriate or something like that. THis would help her be more accountable for her own work. Also, definitely visit the class to test the environment. Never assume the teacher is doing all she should. You are your child's biggest advocate. I am really speaking to all parents when I say that. You seem pretty vigilant.
