October 9, 2008 3:10 PM Full day Kindergarten, 15 minute recess, 1 hour special class?
My sons kindergarten is from 830 to 310pm. He seems to like it but, has had repeated incidents of not being able to conform to the structure and rules. Walking in line, and stopping and starting their regimented activities is very hard. More sleep is needed, going to do that..
I would love to choose a different school, but private kindergarten is not an option, unless there are grants that we can apply for. We simply want him to learn that rules and structure is a part of life. He has had many outbursts and tantrums, and usually they have been over minor incidents, which if he had handles more maturely, taken a time out, or simply stopped the behavior, that would have been the end of it. He carries on, cries, whines, runs away..or worse. He progressively makes the simple situation a virtual nightmare for teachers/school officials. I would like to have his so-called transition, be a transition, and not a train-wreck. Its gotten worse instead of better the last two weeks. Conference is set up for next week. Just worried....
