There has been this blog post that has been circling around about how math should be taught as art. I think that kids could easily learn that math is a form of creative problem solving and that there are many ways to solve a problem. It helps them hone in their critical thinking skills and independent thinking, which is why I gave my kids word problems over the summer. This is the article I read about math as art.
