Halloween costume hoopla

Wow! Halloween crept up pretty quickly this year, and I still don't have a costume. Growing up, my mom always made our costumes out of old "dress-up" clothes which consisted of my parents' threads from the '60s, '70s, and '80s.

Plastic makes perfect

Plastic surgery has always been a controversial issue. Sure you could have had a deviated septum, but most go under to improve their physical appearance. But have we gone too far as to create a beauty pageant just for women who have had plastic surgery?

Water bottle, what? What?

Just about everywhere you turn now you can spot someone with a Sigg™ aluminum water bottle. Not only are these convenient and reusable, but they help eliminate the waste of plastic water bottles. Another benefit was that they were supposed to be BPA free. Well, guess what, they aren't! Can I get a RECALL?!

Labor Day activities

Labor Day is Monday, September 7th. So congratulations to everyone who has survived layoffs and job cuts in this recession, time to celebrate. For all you slackers, get to work! Just kidding. How do you plan celebrating Labor Day?

Kids are curious; we have to applaud them on their thirst for knowledge! But how 'bout we keep the sex-ed lectures in the classroom or from their parents, and not from some raunchy video. As a parent, it is your responsibility how safely your child uses the internet.

Barefoot running

Lets talk about FiveFinger shoes, the shoe that has toes. When I first saw these shoes on a middle-aged woman on the train, I was like, "OMG, WTF!" I thought this was the next fashion faux pas since Crocs! Then, today I saw a guy running outside with them on. And then I read Lindsay's blog from Monday and it all came together.

Styrofoam in your home

The other day I was doing some spring cleaning in my teeny, tiny apartment and found boxes taking up extra space in my already too-small closet. And of course, inside of the boxes was nothing but Styrofoam. So, of course, I pitched it reluctantly since Styrofoam isn't biodegradable. But really, what can you do with Styrofoam? Well, by-golly...I'll tell ya!

MJ Memorial Service

It's now old news that MJ has died, but it is still the talk of the world. CNN has a live streaming video of the memorial service so fans can follow every move.

Michael Jackson's memorial service is being held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The service began with a gathering of MJ's family and friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills this morning.

The memorial service started with Smokey Robinson reading a message from Nelson Mandela, but is on hold right now due to audio issues at the Staples Center.
