I recently wrote a book on ancient Saindon history--Paleolithic to 1735. In that book I present a record of a Saindon (by name) living in or near the hamlet of St. Don, Brittany in 1448. It is my belief that the Saindon name, which was not uncommon in that area, was derived from the hamlet inwhich these people originated--St. Don. It was one of the common practices in France at that time to refer to a person by the village or hamlet from which that person originated. Don was a celtic goddess whose mythical origin dates back long before Celtic times. I further believe that the title "Sainte" was added sometime after the third century of the Christian era.
